Asha Lilyana Rogers for Apostolic Youth Corps

It all began when she was about 6 years old. A military friend stationed in Japan would send us candy and little surprises. I was homeschooling her and her siblings and we used it as an opportunity to learn about Japanese culture. As she grew her love for other cultures did too but Japan was always extra special to her. When she was almost 15 years old she developed a passion for learning the Japanese language and even how to read and write Japanese. She has gotten very good actually and knows a lot of etiquette practiced by Japanese culture as well. This past summer, I told her that God places passions in us for a purpose. I asked her if she would like to go on an AYC mission trip. She is one of our 6 children so she said, “I didn’t think that would be financially possible.” I reminded her that with God all things are possible! So, at midnight on November 1st she used her birthday money to apply for the Japan 2023 trip! She was accepted and we are excited to see God move in the lives of everyone involved including our daughter, Lilyana.
