My name is Jodi-Ann Williams and I was accepted for AYC Haiti 2020.
In 2017 at the North American Youth Congress, I felt an impression upon my heart to go on an AYC trip but I was too afraid to do so on my own. Since then, I felt the Lord calling me to a higher place in him. After two years of praying and searching for my divine purpose, I realized that God was calling me to a place of servitude. He’s been calling me to serve others in areas and places I’ve never served before. Although I’ve been quite active at my church, I have never served anywhere else outside my church because of fear and intimidation. To this day, I can’t say exactly what I’ve been afraid of, but by the grace of God, I am now ready to step out of my comfort zone and conquer all my fears. I am now ready to show the world the true love of God by committing myself totally to his service.
Although it has beautiful beaches, Haiti is known to be one of the poorest country in the Caribbean and has never been the same since the 2010 Earthquake which killed over 200,000 people and displaced over 1 million. Just ten months later, the country was hit with an outbreak of Cholera which is an acute, diarrheal illness caused by infection of the intestine with the toxigenic bacterium found in water or food sources that have been contaminated by feces. This outbreak was confirmed to be the worst in recent history with over 665,000 cases and 8,183 deaths. On this trip, we will be visiting two orphanages and host a medical clinic for those who are in need of medical treatment. This trip to Haiti will introduce me to things that I’ve never experienced before but I am already excited for what God is about to do in the life of the people in Haiti. This is quite different for me, but I am ready to make a difference in someone’s life through my availability to the service of God.
Your prayers and monetary contributions are very much appreciated as I embark upon this life changing experience.
